Advocacy: Asaba Study Centre visits Nigeria Correctional Service

The management of Asaba Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Asaba, Delta State, on Thursday 9th June, 2022, paid an advocacy visit to the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS),  Delta State Command, Asaba.

The director, Asaba Study Centre, Professor Chibuogwu V. Nnaka, who led the NOUN team explained that the visit was aimed at enlightening the Asaba Command of the NCS on the benefits of enrolling at NOUN and how they could take advantage of those benefits to better themselves through quality, accessible and flexible system of education offered by the university.

Nnaka, in her presentation, highlighted major academic activities of NOUN, including the  mission and vision of the university, modus operandi, process of getting admission, NOUN websites, duration of courses, courses offered at the university.

Other essentials highlighted by the centre director were flexibility of the university, location of Asaba Study Centre, and the procedure of change of study centre (if transferred).

The Command Comptroller, Mr. F.E. Ovie, explained that he is an alumnus of NOUN where he graduated with a Masters degree in 2015.

Ovie expressed delight at and appreciated the NOUN team for the visit while conceding that some of his men were not aware of the existence of NOUN, but affirmed that many of his men were products of NOUN some of who have also obtained their postgraduate degrees.

The comptroller admonished his men to take advantage of NOUN especially for the reason of the university's flexibility and affordability.

The visit climaxed with the presentation of souvenirs to the comptroller and his top officers.
