Comptroller pleads for establishment of NOUN centre in Akure Correctional Service

The Comptroller of the Nigerian Correctional Services (Prisons), Ondo State Command, Mr. Ope Fatinikun, has visited the Akure Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

The Comptroller, who  was welcomed to the centre on Wednesday, 24 November, 2021 by the centre’s director, Prof. Samuel Ogunwale Ogundiran urged the university to extend a hand of fellowship to the inmates in his command.

He highlighted that many of the inmates are willing to seize the opportunity NOUN offers in furthering their education while incarcerated.

The Comptroller also stated that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E. A. Adeboye, has invested considerably in readiness for the approval of a NOUN Special Study Centre in the command.

He said the centre would be of great benefit not just to the inmates but also officers at the command.

On his part, Ogundiran promised to work in harmony with the Comptroller to press on their request to the University Management at the headquarters in Abuja.
