Conference marking: Osuji briefs examiners, subject officers in Enugu

The Coordinator, South-east Conference Marking Zone, Prof. Uchenna Sydney Ajunwa Osuji, has said that the 2022_2 conference marking is a taskforce work which requires maximum concentration.

The immediate-past Dean, Faculty of Education (FOE), disclosed this while briefing the examiners during the 2022_2 conference marking exercise at the Enugu Study Centre, Enugu State.

He commended the examiners for being there for the university and reiterated that National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), upholds the status -quo of only PhD degree holders are eligible for participation in the conference marking.

" If you are privilege to gets scripts and you know that there are other assignments that would not allow you to meet the submission deadline, you are kindly advised to decline ", Osuji has said.

The coordinator explained that the examiners are needed to be thorough, meticulous and careful in ensuring that scripts given to them are well counted, documented and guarded jealously, even as many lives are tied with it.

" If you are too happy, don't mark and if you are angry, don't also mark. Please mark only when you are normal ", he stressed.

Osuji, while instructing the markers to collect marking guide from their respective faculties, also implored them to comport themselves well, even as the subject officers are determine to serve them better, adding that he should be contacted if there are issues for prompt response.

On the part of centre director, Prof. Alexander Uche Onyia, the examiners need to provide accurate and correct account details for prompt payment.

The DEA were represented by the trio of Kayode Adebayo, Blessing Rogers and Onyekwelu Ifeoma, for provision of logistics while the representatives of DMIS were Umar Mukhtar and Abubakar Yahaya Silame, for technical supports.

Earlier, Osuji had briefed the subject officers  drawn from the eight faculties of the university and implored them to work as a team.

He stated that there's no other assignments that brought them to the centre apart from the conference marking and therefore, all efforts  must be geared towards the success of it.

The former dean charged the subject officers for punctuality and the  need for daily attendance for checks and balances.

According to Osuji, the examiners must be treated as colleagues with utmost respect, even as he frowns at talking down with anyone.

He concluded that subject officers are required to submit their reports which must contains the following ingredients, such as  the actual numbers of scripts, the actual numbers of examiners and actual numbers of envelopes, even as it ended without any glitch.
