The overseer of Gabasawa Community Study Centre, Dr. Ali Alasan Ibrahim, has led a team on familiarisation and advocacy campaign tours to the Local Government Chairman’s office and the District Head of Gabasawa.

Addressing the Chairman of Local Government Council and his cabinet members, Ibrahim said the centre has embarked on the mission to solicit support and advocate on the existence and abundant benefits of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for the people of the community to exploit.

Being the first contact with the community stakeholders, the visit also served as an avenue for familiarisation with the key community leaders, who are integral part of the success of the centre.

The centre’s overseer further explained the modus operandi of the Open Distance Learning (ODL) system the university operates and took time off to unpack the admission procedure of the university.

Ibrahim’s meticulous explanation on admission process and requirements also touched on the NOUN’s flexible mode of payment as well as the certificate authenticity and courses’ accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The Council Chairirman, Alhaji Mahe Garba in his remarks, expressed his gratitude and happiness for the visit and promised to support the centre in any possible means.

He assured his visitors that he would liaise with other stakeholders in the local government to take NOUN to all the nooks and crannies of the local government.

At the District Head’s Palace, the overseer re-echoed similar speech, after which the Gabasawa District Head, Alhaji Sani Dawaki, welcomed them to his palace and promised to constitute a committee that will work with the village heads to advertise and educate people on the existence, the system and mode of learning in the National Open University of Nigeria.

Ibrahim presented to the chairman and the district head the NOUN souvenir bags.

It could be recalled that Gabasawa Community Study Centre is one of the 13 new community study centres located in Kano State.
