Gombe Study Centre of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has held both virtual and physical orientation programmes for its newly admitted students.

In his welcome address, the centre director, Dr. Adamu Bappah explained that the orientation programme was meant to prepare the fresh students to understand the hallmark of the university.

He added that the exercise will also help them to familiarize themselves with the rudiments of open and distance learning, which will lead them to develop a sense of direction and gain immediate adjustment to the system.

The director said majority of the students are familiar with the conventional system of learning, saying that the orientation will adjust them properly to the new environment of study.

He, however, advised the fresh students to be disciplined and serious with their studies as well as not to involve themselves in any form of misconduct, stressing that anyone found wanting will face the consequences.

The programme also held an interactive questions and answers session where the fresh students took turns and asked questions on the grey areas and satisfactory answers were provided to them by management of the centre.
