The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Technology, Innovation, and Research (TIR), has undertaken series of monitoring exercises of the ongoing e-examination examination in the study centres within the Abuja metropolis.

Olaniyi, who started the monitoring on Tuesday May 24, 2022, visited the Abuja Model Study Centre and the National Union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW) Centres, respectively.

The DVC and her team arrived at the centre as early as possible when students were about to start their session of the days examinations.

At the two centres, she was received by the directors of the two centres: Prof. Sam M. Ayodele and Mrs. Patience A. Adeniyi, who took her round the examination halls where the DVC interacted with some students and asked them about their e-exams experiences.

The DVC, while on the tour, also discussed the causes and failure of some of the exams IT equipment earlier experienced at the centres and also discussed with the support team on how to resolve and to prevent any future occurrences.

Olaniyi also used the opportunity and visited the conference marking centre at the Abuja Model Study Centre to observe the process and check if there was any issues with them.

Similarly, the DVC, on Wednesday May 25, 2022, was at the Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense, Sauka, where she arrived at about 7.30am and was received by the centre director, Prof. Laruba Doris Obieja, who took her round the centre.

After the supervision, she held a meeting with the centre director, where issues bordering on the centre were discussed and promised to take some of the issues to the university management for necessary action.

The DVC’s next port of call was the Special Study Centre for Immigration, Gwagwalada, where, on her arrival, was received by the most senior staff at the centre, who took her and her entourage round the examination halls.

She supervised and interacted with the ICT staff who also presented their technical needs to her, even she also promised that the management was going to look in to the issues.

As the DVC’s train moved to the Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Correctional Service, she was received by the Director, Mr. Adam IIemna Omale, and was conducted round the exam hall where she also interacted with some students and technical staff.

Afterwards, she commended the director and staff on their cleanliness and urged them to keep up the good work, as she particularly commended the ICT staff for their efforts at ensuring a clean and orderly server room.

Equally, at the Wuse II Study Centre, she was received by the director, Prof. Grace Chidiogo Okoli and was also taken round the different examination halls.

The DVC interacted with some of the students and also had a brief meeting with the technical staff of the centre to find out the immediate needs and how to provide solutions, after which, she commended them for the cleanliness of the premises and the examination halls.

In all the visits, the hallmark of the DCV’s interactions was the receipt of complaints related to the lack of technical resources hindering the smooth conducts of the examinations, where she promised to forward the complaints to the management for solutions.

She was accompanied on the visits by the staff in her office: Mr. Olatunji Folami (Principal Statistician) and Mr. Muttaka Turaki Gujungu (Senior Network Engineer).
