Peters to ACETEL: Engage your sectoral partners constantly

The  Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria ( NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has said  the African Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) must imbibe the culture of constantly engaging its partners as the centre is a performance-based institution for it to continue to receive full funding.

Peters said this at the ACETEL Sectoral Advisory Board meeting that took place on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the headquarters of the university, Jabi, Abuja.

To continually receive full funding,there must be engagement of partners,” he said.

According to the him ,”the plan is for ACETEL to stand on its two feet if funding were to be discontinued. So all hands must be on deck for the efficient running of the institution.

“We are grateful that NOUN has a facility called ACETEL in our structures. The university will always support the centre,the Vice-Chancellor said.

Peters further assured the sectoral partners that they were equal to the task and would deliver all responsibilities given by the World Bank.

Earlier in her opening remarks, ACETEL director, Prof. Grace Jokthan, said the centres focus is on the development of human capacity and research in digital solution and the utilisation of technology for education.

She said ACETEL hopes to bridge the technology knowledge gap in Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), Cybersecurity and digital policies to achieve digital development.

Stakeholders engagement, she explained, is paramount in the running of the institution; they support us with advice, information, guidance, solutions, and directions.

Jokthan also stated that the centre has developed strong partnerships with national and international institutions and industries such as the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), National Communications Commission (NCC), and the likes.

She thanked the sectoral partners for their support and urged them to always engage the institution for learning and development.
