Staff of Port Harcourt Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 hosted its departing centre director, Prof. Eserinune McCarty Mojaye, to a send-off party to mark the formal disengagement as the head of the centre.

The chairman, Welfare Committee of the centre, Mr. Madu Anthony Odeigah, who spoke on behalf of the staff, commended Mojaye on his leadership prowess and how he has impacted the centre and its staff in the past two years.

He congratulated the former centre director on his appointment as the new director, Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for African Studies, domiciled at NOUN Headquarters in Abuja.

Mojaye, a professor of Mass Communication, on his part, expressed his appreciation to all staff of the centre, whom he described as a hardworking and dedicated team.

He urged them to extend the loyalty and cooperation he had enjoyed in his tenure to the new helmsperson of the centre, whom, he said, would assume duties in a matter of days.

The occasion, which was a rather short one, featured presentation of souvenir to the former centre director by Odeigah on behalf of the staff of the centre; as well as clinking of glasses and licking of lips.

It has become common knowledge that Mojaye who has been on the saddle as centre director, Port Harcourt Study Centre, Rivers State, since September 2019, has been appointed the director, Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for African Studies (OOCAS), one of the research centres of the National Open University of Nigeria in Abuja.
