The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Issac Sammani Bustwat, has, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, monitored the conduct of the ongoing 2023_1 Pen-on-Paper examination at Kagoro Community Study Centre, Kaduna State.
Speaking with NOUN News shortly after the exercise at the centre, the DVC stated that he was at Kagoro to monitor the administration of the Pen-on-Paper examination currently taking place in all NOUN centres all over the country.
He explained that it is a routine activity to ensure that centre directors and staff keep to standard; there has been a standard to maintain in administering examination by the university.
“We have to keep up doing the good work by engaging in effective and uncompromised monitoring of examination so as to get the best from the centre director.
"When I arrived at the centre I went straight to the security post and asked him to direct me to the examination hall.
"I met two staff invigilating, the students are well seated, well-spaced and the atmosphere is conducive," he said.
On the conduct of the examination, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor said he was impressed with the way and manner the examination was being handled at the centre.
Butswat said the centre, based on his observation, is well equipped, stating that there has been a noticeable increase in the volume of students, which may, in the near future, require facilities.
He called on the management on the need to provide a library to the centre as there is no existing one found for students to access relevant materials, literatures and textbooks for their research.
The DVC promised to include all the observations in his report for onward transmission to the university management for further action.
In an interaction with NOUN News, the director of the centre Mrs. Phoebi Aka’as, extended the centre’s felicitation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, for his tremendous effort of ensuring the university is taken to greater heights.
On the conduct of the ongoing Pen-on-Paper examination at the centre, she said Kagoro centre has recorded smooth take off and hitch-free administration thus far.
Aka’as added that the centre is making progress in terms of students’ enrollment as there is significant increase in the enrollment.
She further promised more success ahead as the centre is already geared towards massive advocacy campaign after the examination.
The director appealed to the university management to provide the centre with a library for students and a waiting shed.
Aka’as thanked the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for the visit and promised to put more efforts, commitment and determination in ensuring the standard of examination is maintained.
