
A member of the Governing Council of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Hon.Dr. Hingah Biem, has said that the council is determined to ensure the continuous growth and development of the university.
Biem, who represented the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the university, His Excellency, Malam Isa Yuguda, stated this while leading a delegation to the Jos Study Centre, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 as part of the ongoing tour of study centres by the council members.
The delegation included; Mrs. Wategire Vivian, representative, Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Adeyinka Adeyemi and Mr. Joseph Napiri from NOUN.
The visit was to emphasise the significance of the various study centres in Nigeria, taking note of the challenges facing the centres with the view of providing solutions for the overall growth and development of the institution.
The delegation on arrival was warmly received by the Centre Director, Mr. Bulama S. Mshelia and staff of the centre.

In the course of the visit, an interactive session was held between the delegation and staff of the centre, who were allowed to air out their minds with the aim of proffering lasting solutions to them.
During the introductions, Dr. Biem noticed that there was just three ICT staff at the centre, and noted that as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL), institution were ICT is the stronghold of its activities require more ICT staff.
Staff suggested that to promote proper cleanliness at the centre, more environmental attendants are needed to be employed, adding that the centre needs office tables and chairs for staff members to comfortably work,among other needs.
On her part, the representative from the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Wategire assured staff that issues relating to their promotions and waiting period would be addressed accordingly.
In his remarks, Biem reassured staff of the chairman’s commitment to prioritise staff welfare as well as the collective growth of the institution.
