The Director, Enugu Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Loveth Ekwueme, has urged staff to embrace teamwork, diligence, punctuality and integrity as essential values for advancing the centre's growth and strengthening the university's reputation.
Ekwueme gave the charge during a general staff meeting held at the centre on Friday, July 17, 2026.
She said the centre's mandate extends beyond increasing student enrolment to projecting NOUN as a globally competitive institution among the comity of higher education institutions.
Describing students as the university's greatest asset, she urged staff to provide courteous, friendly and efficient services, noting that positive experiences would encourage more prospective learners to enrol at the centre.
The Director also warned against extortion, examination malpractice and other unethical practices capable of tarnishing the university's image, stressing that anyone found culpable would face severe consequences.
She called for the full support and cooperation of staff in achieving the centre's vision of academic excellence, while assuring them of fair and equitable treatment in all official matters.
Responding on behalf of the staff, the Head of the Library Unit, Dr. Grace Elem, pledged their unwavering support and cooperation to ensure the success of the new director's administration.
She also prayed for God to grant Ekwueme wisdom, strength and guidance in leading the centre to greater heights.
