Emir of Bauchi receives NOUN delegation on advocacy, offers unwavering support

The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji (Dr.) Rilwan Sulaiman Adamu has commended the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), for creating a flexible system where people can work and study at their own pace and places in a very convenient way.

The Emir stated this when he received the Bauchi Study Centre director, Dr. Buba Baba Shani, who led the advocacy team to his palace in Bauchi.

The Emir said the university has brought a lot development in educational sector in Nigeria through the creation of seamless system where thousands of people especially the working class and those who have ambitions to further their education could fulfil their dreams of being educated.

The Emir said he observed at the Bauchi Study Centre that it's not only working class who are studying at the university but including the youths and this, according to him, has reduced the nature of crowd to those who are seeking admission in conventional universities.

The Emir who acknowledged that he is a student of the university though not active and promised to continue, expressed his unwavering support for the institution to thrive in his domain, as he appealed to the NOUN management to introduce new courses that will suit his class.

Earlier, the centre director told his host that the visit was for the new management of the Study Centre to seek for the Emir's blessing, wisdom and  guidance to carry out successful operation in the study centre.

The director who expressed his concern over low level of enrollment at the Northern Nigeria particularly the Northeast region, despite the flexibility of the system, explained that the university has been reinvigorated and gazetted which removed all bottlenecks and impediments as regards to the non-recognition of the certificates to allow smooth operation.

He said the flexibility nature of NOUN enables one to work and still have quality education in an easy and simple way as all the courses are fully accredited up to PhD level.

The who director gave a testimony of one of the NOUN students who graduated from study centre seeking employment at the United Nation, when click, NOUN was recognized among the approved universities in the world which offered him the opportunity to be employed at the United Nation.

Shani called on all people aspiring for education to take advantage of the institution to further their education in good time as the university operates without embarking on strike.
