Members of staff of the Kano Study Centres of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) have paid a condolence visit to the family of the late University Bursar, Mallam Nasiru Marafa.
The delegation, led by the former Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, visited the deceased’s mother and other family members who were in transit in Kano on their way to Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah.
During the visit, the delegation commiserated with the family over the loss, describing the late Bursar as a dedicated, humble and committed staff member whose contributions to the growth and development of the university would remain memorable.
Prof. Adamu prayed for Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
Speaking on behalf of the Centre Directors, Mr. Mudassir Ahmad Ishaq described Mallam Marafa as an exemplary leader and father figure whose leadership qualities were worthy of emulation.
He said the entire NOUN Community in Kano shared in the family’s grief and extended its condolences to the deceased’s relatives.
Other members of staff who participated in the visit also offered prayers for the repose of the late Bursar’s soul and prayed for Allah’s protection and guidance for the family throughout their journey to the Holy Land and back.
Responding, the mother of the deceased, on behalf of the family, expressed appreciation to NOUN Management, Professor Adamu and the staff of the NOUN Kano Study Centres for the visit, prayers and show of solidarity.
She said the gesture had brought comfort to the family during the difficult period of mourning.
