Students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Gombe Study Centre, have donated educational and sanitation materials to the centre as part of their Community Development Project.
The gesture reaffirms their commitment to community service and institutional development.
The donated items, which include whiteboards, markers, dustbins and other useful materials, are expected to enhance teaching and learning while improving the general environment of the study centre.
As part of the initiative, the students also presented an Award of Excellence to the DES 303 Course Coordinator, Dr. Grace Hassan Gagare, in recognition of her dedication, guidance and commitment to student development.
Speaking during the presentation, the leader of Group 2, Mr. Andrew Bala Philbel, said the initiative was designed to give back to an institution that had contributed significantly to the students’ academic and personal growth.
He described the donation as a modest but meaningful expression of gratitude, service and the students’ desire to make a lasting positive impact on the study centre.
Philbel also encouraged fellow students to support one another and apply the knowledge and skills acquired through their studies to address societal needs and contribute meaningfully to community development.
Centre Director, Dr. Adamu Bappah, commended the students for their initiative and commitment to the growth and development of the centre.
Dr. Bappah said the gesture demonstrated the value of practical learning, teamwork and community participation, noting that university education should extend beyond classroom instruction to addressing real-life challenges.
He also praised Dr. Gagare for her dedication to student development and urged the students to sustain their spirit of service, cooperation and collective responsibility.
The presentation ended with expressions of appreciation from the students and university officials, who reaffirmed the importance of collaboration and giving back to the institution.
