Improved Student Services Top Agenda as New NOUN Azare Director Takes Over

The newly appointed Acting Director of the National Open University of Nigeria, Azare Study Centre, Dr. Hosea Gobak Kama, has pledged to enhance student services, staff performance and operational efficiency.

Dr. Kama gave the assurance while assuming office, outlining prompt resolution of students’ complaints, staff capacity development, improvement of centre facilities and increased enrolment as key priorities of his administration.

He charged staff to embrace teamwork, professionalism and proactive service delivery, noting that the study centre remains the major interface between the university and its students.

The Acting Director urged staff to attend to students with respect, empathy and promptness, stressing that quality service delivery is critical to projecting a positive image of the university.

Dr. Kama said his administration would intensify advocacy and sensitisation campaigns in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in Bauchi State to boost enrolment at the centre.

He also disclosed plans to prioritise staff development, reward outstanding performance and ensure a cleaner, more orderly and conducive environment for both staff and students.

On examinations, he reaffirmed the centre’s zero tolerance for malpractice and strict compliance with university guidelines to safeguard the integrity of NOUN’s academic programmes.

The Centre Director further pledged to ensure compliance with directives from the University Headquarters and strengthen the digitisation and proper updating of centre records.

Dr. Kama expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uduma O. Uduma, and the University Management for the confidence reposed in him, describing his appointment as a call to service.

He commended his predecessor, Dr. Zulaihatu Alhaji Z., for her contributions to the growth of the centre, pledging to build on the foundation she laid.

He solicited the support and cooperation of all staff, expressing optimism that collective commitment would move the Azare Study Centre to greater heights
