Learning Analytics: Prinsloo applauds NOUN as team presents progress report

A University of South Africa (UNISA)-based Professor of Research, Paul Prinsloo, has lauded the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)'s efforts towards adopting Learning Analytics (LA).

Prinsloo, who is also a visiting professor at the university, expressed his pleasure on Thursday, June 1, 2023 while responding to questions during the presentation of progress report on Learning Analytics (LA) Project at NOUN’s headquarters, Jabi Abuja.

While hailing the university, Prinsloo said LA is a gradual process assuring that NOUN would overcome some of its initial challenges in the process of time.

The erudite professor thanked the management and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, for giving him the opportunity to serve as a visiting professor in NOUN.

He also expressed his profound gratitude to the members of Learning Analytics (LA) stakeholders’ team for the job well done.

Earlier in her presentation, the Director, Regional Training and Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning (RETRIDOL), Prof. Christine Ofulue, who spearheaded the presentation, spoke on: “Learning Analytics at NOUN: Origin and Trajectory”, “The Framework: An Overview and Principles” and “From Principles to Action: Identifying Data Hosts, Actors and Needs.

On his part, Mr. Felix Kayode Olakulehin of RETRIDOL made presentation on “Data Audit Process and Themes from the Audit” and “What Do We Currently Know about our Students’ Learning” while the Director, Learning Content Management System (LCMS), Dr. Adewale Adesina 's presentation was on: “Towards a Learning Intelligence Hub” and "The Value Proposition of Learning Analytics at NOUN.

Prof. Christine wrapped up the presentation titled: "The Value Proposition, Benefits and Next Steps for the Learning Analytics Project."
