The National Coordinator, Special Study Centres, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Modupe Adesina has paid a working visit to the Commandant, 453 Service Group, Nigerian Air Force, Kaduna, Air Commodore M. A. Garba.
The visit was held shortly after the coordinator had a meeting and facility tour, with the Director, NAF Base Study Centre, Dr. Madu Galadima.
Before meeting with Galadima, the coordinator had also monitored the conduct of the ongoing 2024_2 Pen-on-Paper examination in Kaduna.
Galadima conveyed warm messages of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters to the commandant and expressed his gratitude for the honour granted by the formation to host the team.
He stated that the visit was to foster and enhance effective collaboration between the two stakeholders in providing quality and effective education to the personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and beyond.
He further appreciated the formation for the continuous support in the area of security.
In her speech, the National Coordinator, Modupe Adesina, stated that her visit was to familiarise her office with the formation in order to cement the existing collaboration and to seek further efforts.
Adesina explained the Amendment Act of establishing the Special Study Centre, which clearly spelt out the requirements and that the stakeholders need to provide hundred percent of the requirements.
Speaking on the checklist, she said that she has identified certain areas of need at the centre and called on the authority of the formation, on a matter of urgency, to step up to expectation so as to reap the bountiful dividends of establishing the centre.
She presented the checklist to the Commandant intimating him that only forty percent of the centre's needs were made.
Responding, the Commandant of the 453 Base Service Group, Nigerian Air force, Kaduna, Air Commodore. M. A. Garba appreciated and welcomed the team for their visit.
He assured that the formation will continue to collaborate with NOUN because of its relevance in the education sector, to the formation and Nigeria at large.
He advised the Coordinating Director on how to go about seeking the intervention of the formation, which according to him, should be routed to the Nigeria Air force headquarters for maximum impact.
He further advised the office of the National Coordinator on the need to attach the checklist with the letter, and send it to the formation headquarters.
He dwelt on the importance of advocacy and assured of providing a conducive atmosphere to talk with the personnel of the formation.
Earlier in a meeting with the National Coordinator, Galadima had critically outlined the areas of concern that need urgent intervention at the centre.
