I. Undergraduate Programmes
a) 100 Level
i. Five credits in the SSCE/GCE O'Level/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings obtained in subjects relevant to the proposed field(s) of study.
ii. Candidates seeking admission into ALL FACULTIES must have credits in English Language and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings in NECO/SSCE, GCE or NABTEB.
iii. The Faculty of Arts requires that one of the five credits or merits must be in English Language, while at least two (2) should be in subjects relevant to the proposed field. Candidates are expected to have a credit or merit in French to be admitted in the French Programme.
iv. For the Faculty of Management Sciences, the credit passes at Ordinary Level must include English and Mathematics.
v. For the Faculty of Education, the credit pass must include Mathematics and English Language for all programmes.
For B.Sc. (Ed) Human Kinetics and Health Education, the candidates must satisfy the University admission requirements and credit in Biology/Health Science and any other two subjects.
vi. For the Faculty of Science, the credit passes must include Mathematics and English Language. A pass (D7) in Physics may be considered for Biological Science related programmes and at least a pass (D7) in Biology may be considered for Physical Sciences.
vii. The minimum entry requirement for B.Sc. Environmental Science and Resource Management is five (5) O'Level (SSCE/NECO/GCE or NABTEB) Credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics and any of Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science and Economics.
viii. For the Faculty of Health Sciences, the following are requirements for B.N. Sc Nursing Science:
a) five (5) O'Level (SSCE/NECO/GCE) Credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
b) Registered Nurse or Midwifery Certificates of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
c) A valid practice licence issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
d) Must have six (6) months working experience and a letter of attestation from the current place of clinical practice for registration.
ix. The Faculty of Social Sciences, the credit passes must include Mathematics and English Language, while at least two (2) should be in subjects relevant to the proposed field.
b) 200 Level
i. Five credits in the SSCE/GCE O'Level/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings obtained in subjects relevant to the proposed field(s) of study. A credit level pass in Mathematics and English at 'O' Levels is required for all programmes.
ii. National Diploma at Upper Credit from recognised institutions.
iii. Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in subject(s) relevant to the proposed programme of study with a minimum of one merit and two passes.
iv. International Baccalaureates, Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) with at least two 'A' Level papers in relevant subjects and prerequisite number of 'O' Level credit passes.
v. B.Sc. Economics requires a minimum of lower credit at OND level in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking & Finance and other related courses.
· Minimum of 10 points at NCE level in Business Education (Accounting), and Economics combination in addition to five (5) credit passes at the Ordinary level, including English Language, Mathematics and Economics.
· 300 Level: Minimum of lower credit at HND level in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Public Administration, Taxation, Marketing, Purchasing and Supply, Statistics, Mathematics and other related courses.
vi. B.Sc. Biology – Direct Entry
NCE with credit passes in any one of the options below may be admitted into 200 Level of the programme:
· Biology/Chemistry
· Integrated Science/Chemistry
· Related Science-based courses
. OND with Upper Credit pass in Biology, Microbiology and other related programmes and credit pass in requisite subjects at “O” Level may be admitted into 200 Level of the programme.
. 'A' Level Passes (A-D) in two or more relevant subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics and Physics) may be admitted into 200 Level of the programme. HND with credit pass in Biology, Microbiology and other related programmes, and credit passes in requisite subjects at 'O' Level may be admitted into 300 Level.
vii. Candidates for entry into the Faculty of Health Sciences for:
B.Sc. Public Health:
Direct Entry to 200 Level
I. Five (5) credit passes in not more than two sittings in WASSC, GCE or NECO in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science, and Physics or any Science subject.
For the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, candidates must possess Credit Passes in 5 WASCE/GCE/NECO. Subjects, including English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science/Geography, at least a pass in Physics. The Credit pass in Agricultural Science must be backed up by at least a pass in Biology. Universities may determine the level of Credit pass for admission
II. * Candidates with Community Health Officer Training Certificate (CHO), NCE (Physical/Health Education, Science Education, Nutrition, Home Economics. Health Superintendent, Registered Nurse (RN) and any health-related discipline may be considered for admission to direct entry (200 level)

For Faculty of Agricultural Sciences - Direct Entry:
OND with Upper Credit may be admitted into 200 Level of the programme.
NCE with credit passes in any one of the options below may be admitted into 200 level of the programme: Agricultural Science, Biology/Chemistry, Integrated Science/Chemistry, Home Economics and related science-based courses.
*1-year post qualification experience is requested to be eligible for admission.
** 100 level admission is not available
III. For B.Sc. Ed Human Kinetics and B.Sc. Ed Health Education, two or more 'A' level/IJMB/ JUPEB passes, with at least one in Biology/Health Science or Zoology, Merit/Pass in NCE (Nigerian Certificate in Education) Physical and Health Education, Health Sciences, Specialisations in Biology, Health Education, Integrated Science, ND (National Diploma) Lower Credit in Physical and Health Education from recognised institutions. Graduates of a recognised National Institute for Sports with at least merit are eligible for admission into the three-year degree programme in Human Kinetics, ND Lower Credit in Health Education, Senior Community Health Officers Course from a recognized Health Technology Institution, Nursing, Public Health, or any health-related programmes, Registered Nurse qualification.
For the Department of Library and Information Science, the candidate MUST possess Credit passes in Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent in five (5) subjects, including English and Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
IV. For the Department of Library and Information Science, any candidate with A-Level Pass (D) in Library Science/Social Studies/Other Social Science or Science subjects OR Diploma with Lower Credit/Merit in Library Science/Information Management or any related discipline OR NCE with Merit Pass in Library Science or any other Social Science/Science.
Direct Level into 300 Level
Candidates with valid licence issued by EHORECON may be admitted into 300 Level of the programme provided they have any of the following qualifications in addition to 'O' Level requirements:
i. A Higher National Diploma (HND) in Environmental Health Technology.
ii. The Public Health Inspector's Diploma of the Royal Society of Health (RSH) or West African Health Examination Board (WAHEB) Diploma for Public Health Superintendent or Diploma in Community Health Officer.
iii. Candidates for entry into the French programme of the Faculty of Arts must have:
a. Five (5) O' Level credit passes which must include the following subjects: English language, Mathematics and French at not more than two sittings in WASSC, GCE, NECO or NABTEB.
b. A National Open University of Nigeria Diploma in French, Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in French, National Diploma level Certificates or Diploma in French from the Nigerian French Language Village.
c. A minimum of B1 (DELF/DALF) of Alliance Francaise, with merit pass in French in addition to Five (5) O' Level credit passes, one of which must be English Language and a pass in Mathematics. Candidates who hold a B2, C1, and C2 (DELF/DALF) of the Alliance Francaise are at advantage.
iv. Admission Requirement into the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences
a) Undergraduate Programmes
To be admitted into the 5-year B. Agriculture, candidates must have 100 Level Credit passes in 5 WASCE/GCE/NECO. Subjects including English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, at least a pass in Physics. The Credit pass in Agric. Science must be backed up by at least a pass in Biology.
i. 200 Level
“A” Level passes in the relevant subjects
· OND with a minimum of Upper Credit plus 5 Credits in WAESC/NECO/GCE “O” Level to be admitted into 200 Level.
Direct Entry
(i) OND with Upper Credit may be admitted into the 200 Level of the programme.
NCE with credit passes in any one of the options below may be admitted into 200 Level of the programme: Agricultural Science, Biology/Chemistry, Integrated Science/Chemistry, Home Economics and related Science-based courses.
· HND with Upper Credit pass in Agriculture or related programmes, and Credit passes in requisite subjects at O' Level may be admitted into 300 Level and may be required to take relevant courses at 200 Level.
.5 years for 100 and 4 years for 200 level entry candidates.
II. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
Candidates seeking admission must possess either Bachelor Degree Certificates or equivalent from institutions recognised by the Senate of NOUN; or
a) Holders of HND with a minimum of Lower Credit from institutions recognised by the Senate of NOUN.
b) Candidates seeking admission for PGD Agricultural Extension and Management must possess a Bachelor's degree with at least 3rd Class division. Candidates with a Pass degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience may be accepted. HND holders in Agricultural Sciences or other related disciplines may be admitted. Holders of a Bachelor's degree in Basic Science, Biological/Earth Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences from universities that are recognised by NOUN are admitable.
e) For the Faculty of Education, to be admitted for the PGDE programme, a candidate is expected to possess the following:
i. HND or First Degree outside the field of Education in any
discipline with any class of diploma/degree.
ii. Five (5) Credit passes at the Ordinary level, including English Language and Mathematics.
III. MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES
a) A first degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower from a university recognised by the Senate of NOUN in a related field or study.
b) A Postgraduate Diploma in a related field from a university recognised by the Senate may also be admitted.
c) A good honours degree in Education (Arts, Languages, Sciences, Social Sciences, Vocational and Technical subjects) from any university recognised by the Senate of NOUN.
For the Commonwealth Executive MBA/MPA Programmes
CEMBA/CEMPA:
a) Five (5) Credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, at the 'O' Level as basic requirement.
b) A first degree from any university/institution recognised by the Senate of NOUN or HND (Lower Credit) for Polytechnic in any discipline.
c) Candidates should possess at least 3 years working experience from a recognised organisation.
d) Evidence of Professional Certification (e.g ICAN, ACCA, NIM, CIBN, CIPM, ANAN, CIS ETC) is an added advantage.
IV. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.) PROGRAMMES
i. For the Doctor of Philosophy degree programmes, candidates must possess a Master's degree in relevant fields of study from a university recognised by the Senate of NOUN with a minimum score average of not less than 60% or a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.
ii. Candidates for PhD programmes will be invited for an interactive session before an offer of admission is made.
iii. Candidates are advised to forward transcripts of their academic records and three (3) referees report, 2 of which must be from persons very well acquainted with the candidate's academic work, to the Dean, Postgraduate School, from which admission is requested.
V. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
i) Five Credit passes at SSCE/GCE 'O' and 'A' Level must be in subjects relevant to the proposed field(s) of study.
ii) A Credit level pass in Mathematics and English at the 'O' Level is required for all programmes.
iii) Candidates applying for B.A. English, B.A. (Ed.) English and B.Sc. Mass Communication must have a credit in Literature in English.
iv) Prior knowledge and relevant work experience (including first degree/HND/RN) may be considered for advanced placement and waiver.
iv. Candidates awaiting results of any relevant examination may also apply; they should however note that processing of application will not be completed until entry requirements are met.
Note: Candidates may be required to satisfy additional requirements by specific Faculties.
