The Registrar, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Mr. Oladipo Ajayi, has said that the institution has moved on to becoming the new gateway of instructional delivery in the country.
The Registrar made this remark while addressing the congregation of NOUN staff from all offices in Kaduna: Kaduna Study Centre, Nigerian Air Force Special Study Centre, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, and Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), in Kaduna.
Mr. Ajayi, who attended a meeting of Registrars of Nigerian universities held in Kaduna, deemed it necessary to visit the campus and interact with the management and staff of the centres.
He appealed to the staff to continue to commit and give out their best to the course of the university.
Ajayi also observed how the university started and with the commitment, dedication, and vision of staff, which propelled it to where it is today.

He maintained that the management of NOUN has the interest of all the university staff at heart; therefore, he urged them to do all they could to project the image of the university rather than destroying it.
"This makes you a man; this is what defines us. Contribute your quota in advancing the interest of the university," Ajayi said.
Speaking on the leadership style and qualities of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi Peters, the registrar noted that Peters highly appreciates and entertains innovations and ideas; therefore, his door is wide open to all for contributions.
The Registrar further lamented the series of recurring security breaches on the Kaduna campus, and challenged the campus' Head of Security to be vigilant to avert further recurrence.
He upheld that the staff should check their conscience and look at themselves on what to do to protect what belongs to the institution.
"We should not allow any culprit to steal in the NOUN community; we should make sure we continue to sustain that legacy that defines us," he said.
Speaking on the Directors of Centres, the Registrar said that the university management was impressed with their passion and dedication to the course of the university.
On the challenges, the Registrar stated that they cannot settle everything because that's part of human activities; as, according to him, people tend to oppose certain things, and they can't all face the same direction.
Ajayi suggested that there are certain procedures they must follow to explore the internal mechanisms in resolving conflicts before they escalate outside.
He appreciated the directors for the way and manner they handle issues.

Earlier, the CHRD director, Professor Aminu Umar, appreciated the visit and described it as a wake-up call to them and the general staff members of NOUN in Kaduna.
He said the centres and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences will continue to work as sisters, aiming to contribute towards attaining the university's goals and objectives.
Also speaking, the Director of the Kaduna Study Centre, Dr. Babangida Iro, assured the Registrar that they will do their best using all available resources at hand to ensure quality is maintained.
He further thanked the university management for their support to the centres.
Iro appreciated the leadership style of the Vice-Chancellor, which, according to the director, serves as a motivation to them and the entire staff of the university.
As part of the visit, Mr. Ajayi inspected the production unit of NOUN sachet water, NOUN Guest House, NOUN Staff School, and tailoring unit, where he interacted with pupils of NOUN Staff School who choose tailoring as their skill to develop on.
