The National Open University of Nigeria Staff School (NSS), Kaduna has showcased excellence at the 2026 National Children’s Day celebration themed “Children Have Right to Play.”

Organised by Du-Maris Productions, the event held at the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, brought together pupils from across the state to celebrate child rights through play, culture, and learning.

Speaking with NOUN News, Maria-Phil Ariyo, Producer and Director of Du-Maris Productions, who represented CEO Mr. Philips O. Du-Maris’ portfolio also includes partnerships with Nigeria Bottling Company, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, and UNICEF.

Ariyo explained that the 2026 celebration was designed to align with the UNCRC theme by creating an engaging, interactive platform that promotes child development, cultural exchange, and entertainment.

“The objectives were to promote child rights and development, showcase Kaduna’s rich cultural heritage, and give children a unique opportunity to interact with stakeholders and leaders,” she said.

Activities included cultural performances, drama presentations, storytelling, games, and play-based learning experiences designed to boost cognitive development. Pupils also displayed child-centered projects and innovations.

Mrs. Maryam Kida, Head of Administration at NSS, said Children’s Day plays a critical role in pupil development.

“As pupils play, they discover their talents, specialise, and grow,” Kida noted. “It exposes them to learning platforms beyond the classroom.”

NSS pupils participated in cultural dance, drama, games, and exhibitions. A total of 18 schools took part in the celebration.
