As the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) prepares to put its newly-built Data Centre to maximum use, the university has sent some members of staff to undergo an End User training organised by the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) in collaboration with the Prime Touch Technologies.

The 1-day training exercise, held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Grand Cubana Hotel, Jabi ,Abuja, was aimed at training NOUN staff who will make use of the software in their work, to enable them utilise the software easily.

Prime Touch Technologies Managing Director,  Dr. Tokunbo Omolokun, who was in charge of the training, underscored the importance of the training to the participants and explained the knowledge they will gain to be able to utilise the software.

He called on those who had participated in the Database Administrators training at the university headquarters to take the participants for the End Users training on how to use the software.

The trainees who became the trainers, took turns to train the End User participants on how to use the online software.

The End User participants went into two groups to carry out a task, to show their understanding of how to search for data, as faculties, directorates, units were grouped and categorized under different titles.

In a brief chat with the Admin Manager of the company, Mrs. Margaret Mwoltu, she said “The aim of building this software for the university is so that after building the software, it won’t be redundant and people cannot use it.

“So this End User training will guide them on how to utilise it, not just guiding them but to also select a few people who will be in charge of it; who will also guide others.

Mwoltu said training members on how to utilise the software will create a process flow on how things will go on the data base management of the university.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) Technology, Innovation and Research (TIR), Prof. Godwin Akper, along with the ACETEL director, Prof. Grace Jokthan, issued certificates of participation to participants at the end of the training.

The Director, Examination and Assessment, Prof. Olugbenga Ojo and the Ag. Director, Learning Content Management Systems, Dr. Lukman Bello, were also present at the event.
