The Bursar of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Malam Nasiru Marafa, has been on a monitoring spree of the ongoing Pen-on-Paper examination across some study centres in Kano and Kaduna States.
Mal. Marafa, whose monitoring exercise took place between Friday and Saturday, visited Kaduna, Kano, Dawakin Kudu and Kwachiri Study Centres in an effort to ensure the credibility and standards of the ongoing 2025_2 PenonPaper examination proceedings.
The Bursar stated that the visit underscored NOUN’s commitment to maintaining the highest quality and integrity of its exams.
He emphasised that the primary purpose of monitoring the examination proceedings was to safeguard the credibility, quality, and integrity of NOUN's assessment processes.
By visiting the centres, "I aimed to verify that the 2025_2 PenonPaper examination proceedings adhere to NOUN’s standards, ensure proper administration, and identify any operational gaps that could compromise fairness," said Marafa.
Additionally, he maintained that the monitoring exercise was also intended to reinforce a culture of continuous improvement by observing the conduct of exams firsthand.
He confirmed that procedures are being followed, and that facilities are adequate, even as the staff are fully committed to upholding the university’s core values of transparency, innovation, and inclusivity.
"This oversight helps us maintain public confidence in NOUN’s mode of operations system of delivery," Marafa added.
Revealing from his findings, he stated that the examinations were seamless at the centres and their performance were highly commendable
The Directors of Kaduna, Kano, Kwachiri and Dawakin Kudu, Dr. Babangida Iro, Mr. Muddasir Ahmad Ishaq and Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Alhassan, respectively unanimously re-echoed similar position by reporting that smooth operations, proper spacing, disciplined staff, secured handling of scripts, and a positive, orderly atmosphere.
They said there were no problems or concern recorded so far and that the overall conduct matched the high standards expected.
