Calabar centre holds orientation exercise for students

The Calabar Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Calabar, Cross River State on Monday, April 14, 2023, held an orientation session for students of the centre.

Addressing students at the event, the director of the centre, Prof. Onyeka Iwuchukwu, x-rayed the operations of the university: Its uniqueness, flexibility and the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mode of learning promoted by the institution.

Iwuchukwu also reminded the freshmen among the students to be punctual and orderly in the attendance in the 24th Matriculation Ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) scheduled for Tuesday, April 18, 2023 across the 107 study centres of the institution in the country.

Other centre officials who took turns to address the students during the orientation exercise were the centre accountant, Mr. Sidney Ibe, the assistant registrar, Mr. Emeka Madu, the store officer, Mrs. Ann Owan, and the ICT officer, Mr. Ben Onabe, who explained various aspects of the university’s platforms that enhance seamless study for the students.

Onabe, through a detailed demonstration of the students’ online interaction with the university, guided them through all sites for registration, online facilitation, tutor-marked assignments (TMAs), and other things. He emphasised the use of the customised email addresses generated for them by the university.

There were questions and answers session, refreshment period as well as facility tour of the centre.

Participating students expressed their gratitude for the enriching experiences and rewarding interactions they had on the occasion.
