The outgoing Director of Port Harcourt Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Nnenna Nancy Chukwuma, has tasked staff of the centre to strive to make the university the best Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution in Africa.

Chukwuma gave the charge in her valedictory interaction with staff of the centre on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 before she bowed out of what has been her office in the past two years.

The former director, who before her assignment to Port Harcourt Study Centre, was the Head of Department, Business Administration, at the Abuja headquarters of the university, was recently reposted to the Faculty of Management Sciences.

Chukwuma, during the valedictory interaction, counseled staff to endeavour to help others succeed.

"I urge you to accord my successor all the necessary support she will need to succeed in her assignment here. You may be down here today, you will certainly be up there tomorrow, that is the essence of the promotion exams you take every three years. If you help someone to succeed today, someone will also help you to succeed tomorrow. You need someone to succeed, there is no success without company.

"You must record achievements and endeavour to make NOUN the best ODL university in Africa," she counseled.

Chukwuma further entreated her former workforce to watch one another's back. "I don't ask you to befriend everybody because you can't be friends with everybody. You must at least have a working relationship with everybody if you must go far in your career. I can't tell you goodbye. I can only say see you later because we are certainly going to be seeing one another."

Members of staff also took turns to eulogise the former director and wish her well in her future assignments.
