The management and staff of Maiduguri Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), have played host to one of the Governing Council members, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Badeiri, who paid a working visit to the centre.

The purpose of the visit, according to Badeiri, was to conduct on-the-spot assessment on the facilities and the physical structures of the centre, appraise the situation at the centre and receive complains with a view to finding areas of improvement.

This, he explained, was part of the resolutions taken by the council in its meeting recently held in Lagos.

The visiting council member was taken round by the director, Dr. Mohammed Yahaya, for the inspection and assessment of physical facilities and structures.

He decried the deplorable condition of the centre as wind storm damaged a number of physical facilities and structures including the roof top of the auditorium designated for the POP examination.

"Actually, I went there but I found out that the centre is in mess. The POP examination hall is in a very bad shape. The roof top was blown by wind storm and the rainfall destroyed the sitting arrangement," he said.

Badeiri, who was accompanied by Gadau Ali Monguno, a Special Adviser on Emergency Management to His Excellency, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, also lamented about the inadequacy of water supply at the centre as boreholes beg for repairs.

After a brief meeting with the management of the centre where they voiced out their complains and identified some challenges, the council member assured them that his assessment on the situation of the centre would be reported to the council for consideration.

He advised the management of the centre to increase its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to resolve some of the minor challenges they identified, urging them also to be of good behaviors and continue to work as a team while discharging their duties.

Earlier, Dr. Yahaya, while welcoming the visitor, expressed the hope that the leadership of the council will revolutionise the centre with development projects and renovation works to enhance effective service delivery.

the director, who thanked the council member for the visit, pledged his commitment and that of his management team in working assiduously to move the centre to greater heights.
