The Director, Yenagoa Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Clifford Moses Amini, on Thursday, March 3, 2022, led his advocacy team for sensitisation campaign at the popular Swali Market in Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State.

Amini led his team, first and foremost, to the office of the market women’s leader, Mrs. Agele Francis, who in turn led the NOUN advocacy team to the office of the chairman, Swali Market Association, Mr. Bobra Jackson.

The centre director explained to Jackson the concept of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of instructional delivery as championed by NOUN.

He emphasised the areas of competitive advantages the university has over sister universities in the country, highlighting flexibility, affordability, accessibility as well as barrier and age transcendency.

Jackson, satisfactorily buoyed by Amini’s presentation, joined the advocacy team, along with Francis and other market officials, to strategic locations in the market where the director made an open air broadcast of the goodness of NOUN and its ODL mode of instructional delivery.

With a large publicity flex mounted strategically at the entrance of the market, members of the advocacy team swung into action distributing flyers and information brochures, while explaining to inquirers who approached them, all they needed to know about the university and its processes of enrolment.

The campaign was impactful as evidenced in the large number of enquirers who besieged the team for further information.
