The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Mr. Sani Omolori Aliyu, has commended the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for making education more accessible to Nigerians, including security personnel.
Mr. Aliyu gave the commendation while receiving the management of NOUN Bauchi Study Centre, led by its Director, Dr. Madu Galadima, during an advocacy visit to the command.
He described the university’s flexible system as a unique opportunity for officers to further their education.
The police commissioner assured that the message would be conveyed to officers and immediately directed his team to schedule a sensitisation session to enlighten personnel on NOUN’s programmes.
He also pledged the command’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with the university and support its activities.

Earlier, Dr. Galadima, said the visit was aimed to strengthen collaboration between NOUN and the police while encouraging officers to enroll in the institution to further their education.
The director explained that NOUN was established to provide affordable and accessible higher education to Nigerians, with over one hundred study centres nationwide, including a Special Police Study Centre in Dei-Dei, Abuja.
Highlighting the university’s academic structure, Galadima said NOUN conducts two modes of examinations: Pen-on-Paper (POP) for students in 300 level and above, and Computer-Based Tests (CBT) for those in 100 and 200 levels.
He added that the institution provides both online learning resources and printed study materials, while students are allowed to choose study centres based on their proximity.
The Centre Director later met with senior police officers at their officers’ mess in a scheduled session, where he explained the admission and registration processes in detail.
He further encouraged the officers to take advantage of NOUN’s programmes to upgrade their qualifications in line with the university’s mandate of bringing education to the doorstep of every Nigerian.
