The Benin Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Benin City, Edo State, in collaboration with the management of the university, has acquired a 7.5kva power generator to boost electricity supply at the centre.
Dr. Akeem Disu, the centre director, explained that the essence of procuring an additional power generator was to ameliorate the effect of the hike in petrol and diesel prices.
He said the new power generator would provide a back up to the 110kva Cummins diesel generator provided by the university.
Disu emphasised that the centre was committed to ensuring timely delivery of services and maintaining a steady flow of activities.
The visibly-elated staff of the centre were joyous; as they commended the centre director for the initiative.
They said that the acquisition of the generating plant would help to ensure there is constant power supply for staff to attend to the needs of students.
