The Coordinator, Kaduna Conference Marking Centre, Prof. Juliet Inegbedion has earlier today briefed the congregation of examiners and subject officers who converged on Kaduna Study Centre for the 2021_1 Pen-on-Paper examination scripts marking.

Speaking at the venue of the exercise, Inegbedion stated that she officially resumed the exercise since 21st of June, 2021 to receive and ensure that the inventories of the scripts were in order.

While welcoming the markers, she extended the greetings of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters and the university management who, she said, have noted their contribution towards the smooth academic exploits of the university.

“Without the markers, NOUN wouldn’t have been able to succeed fully in its academic function,” said Inegbedion, who is the director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and General Studies of the university.

She further described them as major part of the stakeholders in the academic exercise, stressing that they remain the strategic figures who form quality when so ever quality is stated in the academic exercise.

“In relation to qualification of the examiners, the first thing that may qualify one to become an examiner is for you to have a doctorate degree in relevant field, based on that the subject officers are to screen their certificates, those that are already marking with us and those that have their profile in our database may not be required to present their certificates because we already have it and already know what it poses. But for those that are first timers they need to check and know the validity of their certificates,” she said.

On the issue of the security of the scripts, she explained that “we tasked the examiners to help take proper care of the scripts and again as examiners they are not expected to share their scripts with any third party throughout the marking process.”

Inegbedion disclosed that “at the first instance, one cannot exceed 350 scripts. If you are given up to that or you are given 200 and you feel you cannot cope with it request for lesser number that you can cope with. Please, do the needful because integrity matters a lot even as academics.”

There are procedures in the process of scripts collection, they are going to work with different subject officers and the faculty team leads of every faculty, the director added.

She urged them to quickly call the attention of any authority concerned when so ever they are faced with any challenge on the course of the proceedings.

In his address, the director, Kaduna Study Centre, Dr. Aminu Umar, called on the examiners to always display their identification cards for them to be granted access closer to the main study centre building to collect or summit their scripts.

He appealed to the examiners to follow the guideline, rules and regulation of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control on the menace of Covid-19 pandemic in the country, “as for you to gain access to the centre one’s temperature must be checked, face mask be frequently used and ultimately social distancing must be observed.”

Moreover, he urged them to be effective and efficient in discharging their work as they are being trustworthy.

The team is expected to round off the exercise on or before 9th of July 2021.
