The Dean of Student Affairs at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Ernest O. Ugbejeh, has been awarded the prestigious International Association of Student Affairs and Services (IASAS) Roger Ludeman Scholarship, a global recognition reserved for outstanding professionals in student affairs.
The award secures Professor Ugbejeh's participation in the IASAS Leadership Certificate Programme, which begins online in September 2026.
The internationally acclaimed scholarship is presented to exceptional student affairs professionals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing student development, leadership, welfare, and support services in higher education institutions worldwide.
Professor Ugbejeh emerged as one of the successful recipients following a highly competitive international selection process that attracted applications from student affairs practitioners across several countries.
According to the official notification from the IASAS Secretary-General, his application distinguished itself through its excellence and his sustained commitment to strengthening student affairs administration and enhancing student support services.
The IASAS Leadership Certificate Programme is designed to equip participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills in contemporary student affairs administration, strategic leadership, student engagement, inclusion, welfare services, and global best practices in higher education.
The programme features ten expert-led sessions covering global leadership perspectives, strategic thinking, cultural adaptability, effective management of diverse teams, and innovative approaches to student affairs and services.
Professor Ugbejeh's participation is expected to further enhance the capacity of NOUN's Deanery of Student Affairs and contribute to the university's drive to strengthen student support systems, foster leadership development, and deliver a more enriching student experience in line with international best practices.
