A Deputy Bursar in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Aimuyedo Temitope has been elected as the chairman, Institute of Chattered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Kaduna State Chapter.
Temitope, who is the Head of Account, Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), Kaduna, was described as “workaholic and a goal getter” by the former Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Ahmad Muhammad Makarfi.
Makarfi stated this at the occasion of her investiture as the 23rd chairman of the institute, Kaduna District and Society.
The former governor, who is a member of the institute, praised the new chairman, saying that her emergence has shown that there is a surge in the rise of women taking various roles across various sectors in the country.
He said this shift is gradually dismantling the traditional gender barriers and bringing substantial success across different sectors.
Makarfi further said her rise as the 23rd Chairman of ICAN has shown the impact of advocacy for women in politics.
He therefore congratulated her and the institute, urging her to be committed and determined so as to uplift and ensure the goal of the institute is achieved.
Shortly after her investiture as Chairman of ICAN Kaduna District and Society, Temitope in her acceptance speech, expressed her profound gratitude to God Almighty in whom she said she live, move and have her being.
She acknowledged the efforts of the past Chairman, Mr. Lawal Ibrahim, whom she said had kept her in the race despite several attempts to run away.
Temitope explained that the chairmanship of the district is like a marathon or relay race, where one person hands over the baton to the other, where every lap is a duty bound to add to the success already recorded.
The deputy bursar added that she will continue to draw inspiration from the 22 past chairmen who had served the institute meritoriously.
Temitope said she wholeheartedly accepted to serve the community with great sense of humility and responsiveness as the 23rd Chairman of ICAN, Kaduna and District Society for the year 2024/2025.
She therefore solicited the support of members, loyalty, understanding, cooperation, utmost tolerance and love in order to drive home the theme “Unity in Diversity.”
She appealed to them to ensure that their actions and conducts are guided by good conscience at all times.
