Directorate of Procurement holds financial bidding exercise

The Directorate of Procurement, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has organised its Financial Bidding exercise for contractors that scaled through the Technical Evaluation exercise. 

The event was held at the university’s Senate Building Conference Hall on Thursday, August 14, 2025, university headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.

 
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Issac Butswat, said that TETFund has a good relationship with the university and the exercise was intended to show transparency in the award of contract.


In giving out a contract, there should be competitiveness and not one-sided to enable the best. I will solicit for your cooperation, be sincere, and give your opinions for the betterment of the university,” he said.

On his part, the representative of TETFund, Mr. Danazumi  Mbaser, disclosed that anyone who emerges as a winner should ensure that they use good quality building materials to deliver the job.“Do not use the funds as a means to enrich yourself.”

“It is a public fund, please make judicious use of the funds and deliver the job to the institution so that when we come for the final supervision a good result will be appreciated."  

Mbasar therefore described the whole bidding process as satisfactory. 

The Director, Directorate of Procurement, Ms.Dinah Abbas, noted that the financial opening bidding exercise for the proposed renovation of Owerri Study Centre was important because the technical aspect of it was held on the 31st of July, 2025.  

"Today we are gathered to review the financials for those that scaled through the technical evaluation exercise. We shall be opening this bid box, which shall be evaluated and sent to the tender board for further approval and award. We look forward to a distinctive financial and evaluation process,” Abbas said.
   
The Registrar, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi, Head of ACTU, Mrs. Doris Nzenwa and the Nodal Officer of SERVICOM, Mrs.Foluke Adeniran were all present as observers and witnesses to the financial bidding opening process.
