The new Director, Katsina Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Babangida Iro has assumed office following his recent deployment by the University Management.
Until his new appointment, Dr. Iro served as Director of the NOUN Kaduna Study Centre.
He was deployed to Katsina to provide fresh leadership and advance the centre’s mandate.
He formally took over from Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi during a brief handover ceremony held at the centre.
Speaking with NOUN News shortly after the ceremony, Dr. Iro commended the leadership style of his predecessor, describing it as exemplary and worthy of emulation.
The new director said he would build on the foundation and blueprint established by his predecessor, with particular emphasis on internal capacity-building workshops aimed at enhancing staff productivity and efficiency.
Dr. Iro expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, for finding him worthy of the appointment.
“Commitment, determination, dedication and efficiency will be my driving tools to uplift the centre to the expected heights,” he said.
He added that improving student enrolment through sustained sensitisation, advocacy and public awareness campaigns would be a major priority of his administration.
Dr. Iro urged members of staff to remain diligent, dedicated and punctual in the discharge of their duties, warning that laxity would not be tolerated.
He also charged them to uphold and project the positive image of the university in their interactions with the public.
In his remarks, the outgoing Director, Mr. Abdullahi, thanked the University Management for the opportunity to serve and expressed appreciation to the staff for their commitment to the growth and development of the centre during his tenure.
He urged them to remain committed to their responsibilities with dedication, trust and patience, stressing that diligent service to the university should remain a collective priority.
Speaking separately, members of staff commended Mr. Abdullahi for his leadership qualities and pledged their loyalty and commitment to the new director.
