The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Shehu Usman Adamu, has commended the smooth and orderly conduct of the ongoing 2026_1 Pen-on-Paper (POP) examinations at the Yola Study Centre.
Prof. Adamu gave the commendation during a monitoring visit to the centre, where he expressed satisfaction with the examination arrangements, security measures, and overall learning environment.
According to him, the security system at the centre was impressive, as all individuals entering the examination venue were required to surrender their mobile phones and present valid identification before gaining access.
He noted that the measure reflected a high level of security consciousness on the part of the study centre management.
The DVC Admin also praised the availability of basic health facilities, including a first aid box for attending to emergency health situations involving students during the examinations.
He further lauded the cleanliness of the study centre environment and the neat condition of the library.
During the monitoring exercise, Prof. Adamu interacted with students and supervised the printing and Script Submission System (SSS) capturing of examination materials.
He disclosed that over 700 students were writing their examinations peacefully and expressed satisfaction with students’ feedback regarding the quality and relevance of the examination questions.
Prof. Adamu particularly commended the innovative system adopted by the Yola Study Centre, where examination question papers are printed directly inside the examination hall in the presence of students, rather than being transported from offices.
According to him, the arrangement enhances transparency and reduces delays in the examination process.
However, he identified poor ventilation caused by a few faulty fans as an area requiring urgent attention, especially considering the hot weather conditions in Yola.
He assured that the observation would be communicated to the university management for necessary action and the upgrading of facilities at the centre.
