The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Shehu Usman Adamu, has commended the Directorate of Media and Publicity (DMP) for its participation in the ongoing 21st Abuja International Trade Fair, describing the initiative as a strategic platform for enhancing the University's visibility and expanding public awareness of its programmes and services.
Prof. Adamu gave the commendation on Wednesday when he visited the NOUN Booth at the trade fair on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma.
He was received by the Ag. Director, Media and Publicity, Mrs. Omotola Ojudu, alongside the Head of New Media, Mr. Ambrose Gowong, and other senior members of staff of the Directorate.
Interacting with the staff of the Directorate, the DVC expressed satisfaction with the level of engagement and advocacy being undertaken by the Directorate to showcase the University's achievements and opportunities to prospective students and other stakeholders.
He noted that the University's presence at the trade fair demonstrates a proactive approach to public engagement and aligns with Management's commitment to increasing enrolment and strengthening NOUN's visibility across the country.
Prof. Adamu particularly praised the Directorate's initiative in using the trade fair as a platform to promote the University's open and distance learning model, which continues to provide flexible and accessible education to thousands of Nigerians.
He recommended that similar advocacy efforts could be replicated in other regions of the country where trade fairs and related public events are organised subject to the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, noting that such engagements would further deepen awareness of NOUN's programmes and attract more learners to the institution.
The DVC also conveyed the Vice-Chancellor's goodwill to the team and expressed confidence that the Directorate would deliver on its mandate of projecting the University's image and achievements.
Speaking during the visit, the Ag. Director, Media and Publicity, Mrs. Omotola Ojudu, appreciated the DVC for representing the Vice-Chancellor and for taking time to assess activities at the NOUN Booth.
She assured him that the Directorate would continue to deploy innovative communication and advocacy strategies to ensure the success of the University's participation at the fair.
Ojudu noted that the Directorate had consistently participated in trade fairs over the years as part of its public enlightenment and visibility drive, adding that the current participation was aimed at supporting the Vice-Chancellor's agenda of increasing enrolment and expanding awareness of NOUN's unique educational offerings.
She also expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for approving and supporting the University's participation in the 21st Abuja International Trade Fair.
The NOUN Booth has continued to attract visitors seeking information on admission opportunities, academic programmes, flexible learning options and other services offered by Nigeria's premier open and distance learning institution.
