As part of the academic activities lined up at the Gombe Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), students of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Sciences have presented seminar and practicum at the centre.
The event witnessed a large turn out of students and staff with both undergraduate and postgraduate students presenting seminars, while postgraduate students of the Faculty of Health Sciences made presentation on their experiences at their places of practicum.
Director of the centre, Dr. Adamu Bappah alongside other facilitators: Dr. Mela Danjin and Dr. Mohammed Musa Bojude both from the School of Nursing Sciences, Gombe, took part in the grading and moderation of the academic exercise.
Students, during the presentations in group and individual levels, were asked questions aimed at testing the degree of their understanding on the topic under discussion.
At the end of each presentation, observations and series of questions were made by the assessors who commended the students and also asked them to effect corrections where necessary.
Some of the topics discussed include: "Nutrition and non nutrition composition of the fruits of Azanxa Garckeana," "Problem of open defecation and its threat to public health in Gombe LGA," "The attitude of mothers toward immunisation in Abuja quarters community in Gombe metropolis, Gombe State," and "Knowledge and practice of meat hygiene and safety among local meat vendors in Gombe metropolis - main market.”
