High-powered NOUN delegation graces Yuguda’s children wedding ceremony

Principal Officers of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) have attended the wedding ceremony of the children of Malam Isah Yuguda, Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, which took place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Bauchi. 

The ceremony was held at the palace of Dr. Rilwan Sulaiman Adamu, the Emir of Bauchi, and was attended by several dignitaries from the length and breadth of the ountry.

The marriage contract was sealed at the Bauchi Central Mosque, after the payment of bride price by the groom.

Alhaji Bala Wunti, a director at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), played a significant role in the two wedding ceremonies. 

He gave Ummu-Salma Isa Yuguda out in marriage to Prof. Ibrahim Makari, who represented the groom, after the bride price was paid. 

Wunti also represented Ahmed Isa Yuguda, while Prof. Ibrahim Makari, the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, represented the bride, Hauwa Dahiru Marafa.

Bauchi

 Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Isaac Butswat.

Other members of the delegation were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Technology, Innovations and Research, Prof. Godwin Akper; Registrar, Mr. Ladipo Ajayi; Bursar, Alhaji Nasiru Marafa Gusau and the Director Transport and logistics, Malam Isa Shehu.

Additional dignitaries in attendance included the former Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Shehu Usman Adamu; Acting Director, Bauchi Study Centre, Mrs. Hauwa Dede and the Director, Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna, Dr. Madu Galadima.

 

NOUN's new Chief Security Officer (CSO), Wing Commander Umar Muhammed Awe (rtd) and additional NOUN staff from Azare, Bauchi, and Gombe Study Centres also attended the ceremony. 

Security was tight, with all roads leading to the Emir's palace closed to traffic, forcing some dignitaries to walk to the venue.

Prominent personalities, including government officials, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries, also attended the ceremony.
