
The Director, Lafia Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Nasarawa State, Mrs. Rhoda Ezhim, has commended the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, for his commitment to education.
The Centre Director commended the governor on his steadfast and commitment to the advancement of education and human development across the state.
The commendation was made during a courtesy visit to the Director-General, Strategic Communication and Events Management to the Governor, Mallam Yakubu Lamai, in his office in Lafia on Thursday, October, 9, 2025.
Mrs. Ezhim expressed deep appreciation to the governor for his numerous interventions and continued investment in the education sector describing his administration as visionary, inclusive, and forward-looking.
According to her, the governor’s policies and programmes have created opportunities for young people to acquire education and vocational skills, which are vital for economic empowerment and state development.

"The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) remains a strategic partner of the Nasarawa State Government in ensuring access to quality education through Open and Distance Learning.
"We acknowledge and commend the governor’s efforts in promoting lifelong learning, innovation, and youth empowerment," she said
The director emphasised that the Lafia Study Centre will continue to contribute to educational advancement in the state by providing flexible and technology-driven learning opportunities for students who combine studies with work and family responsibilities.
Responding, Mallam Yakubu Lamai, who represented the governor, thanked the NOUN team for their visit and commendation.
He highlighted the governor’s unwavering belief that education remains the bedrock of sustainable development, economic growth, and social transformation.
Lamai reiterated the Nasarawa State Government’s commitment to partnering with reputable institutions such as NOUN in delivering programmes that foster capacity building, innovation, and inclusive growth
“Governor Sule’s administration will continue to support initiatives that align with our vision of empowering citizens through knowledge, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven education,” he assured
He also commended NOUN for its role in widening access to higher education, particularly for working adults and those who might otherwise be excluded by the conventional system.
The visit ended on a note of mutual understanding and collaboration, as both parties pledged to strengthen partnerships that will further advance education, research, and community development in Nasarawa State.
