
The managements and staff of Lagos and Badagary Study Centres, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), have officially welcomed their respective newly -admitted students with orientation exercises.
The programme, which was held both live and virtual at the Model Study Centre, Lagos office on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, was aimed at preparing the students towards the academic journey ahead.
Lagos Study Centre Director, Prof. Alero Akujobi, said the aim of the exercise was to acquaint the freshers with the university's procedures, policies and support services.
Akujobi also urged the new students to pay rapt attentions during the presentations session.
Consequently, heads of unit at the centre took turns to address the students, which saw the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Mana Udong speaking on university faculties, programmes and the operational system.
she also stressed in her presentation the vital role of registration, compulsory courses, collection of hard copy materials and online course materials via courseware.

Mrs. Ejiro Ojo, Deputy Registrar, explained the process and application of student’s deferment of study and examinations.
Speaking on suspension, she said that students should desist from action such as examination malpractice, fighting and any form of rudeness.
Dr. Veronica Aka-Nwachukwu, a students counselor, discussed the function of counselling unit, including education, vocational and personal-social counselling, adding that students should embrace self-learn method to acquire more knowledge and skills.
Officers in different units also participated in the presentations during the orientation exercise.
At the Badagary Study Centre, the director, Dr.Julius Eyanuku, acknowledged that the 2025_1 orientation exercise was held to welcome and educate the newly -admitted students about NOUN's activities.
He said the centre was full of activities with the arrival of students and the official opening and welcoming cereony of the freshmen into the university.
Students later took turns to ask questions on issues, while the staff members provided answers.
