Mafiana, Ojo, Akper, Mande to assume new offices as Inegbedion gets reappointment

The Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof Olufemi Peters, has approved certain changes in the leadership of some directorates, as well as centres of the university.

The changes will see Prof. Olugbenga D. Ojo, the former director, Oshogbo Study Centre assuming office as the new director, Examination and Assessment (DEA).

In a memo dated August 26th, 2021 and signed by the Director, Human Resources, Mr. John J. Ubaji, on behalf of the Registrar, it said Ojo’s appointment is with effect from 1st September, 2021.

“This appointment is in addition to your official schedule as a Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education,” it stated.

Prof. Godwin I. Akper, the immediate-past Director of DEA will assume office as the new Director of Academic Planning (DAP) of the university.

The appointment conveyed in a memo dated August 26th, 2021 and signed by the Director, Human Resources, Mr. John J. Ubaji, on behalf of the Registrar, said Akper’s appointment is with effect from 1st September ,2021.

“This appointment is in addition to your official schedule as Professor in the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Arts,” the memo said.

Also, Prof. Mande Samaila, the erstwhile Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) will be the new Director, Centre for Human Resources Development (CHRD), Kaduna.

Mande’s appointment, conveyed in a memo dated August 26th, 2021 and signed by the Director, Human Resources, Mr. John J. Ubaji, on behalf of the Registrar, is with effect from 1st September, 2021.

According to the memo, it said “Please note that this appointment is in addition to your official schedule as a Professor in the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences.”

Meanwhile, Prof. Chiedu Mafiana, the former Director, Directorate of Research Administration is to assume office as the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS).

His appointment was conveyed in a memo dated August 27th, 2021 and signed by the Director, Human Resources, Mr. John J. Ubaji, on behalf of the Registrar.

It added said Mafiana’s appointment is with effect from 1st September, 2021. “This appointment is in addition to your official schedule as a Professor in the Department of Pure & Applied Science, Faculty of Sciences.”

Each of the four appointment letters explained that “Please, note that this appointment is for a period of two (2) years in the first instance and renewable for a second and final term of two (2) years subject to satisfactory performance. You are responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of your directorate.”

In a related development, Prof. Juliet O. Inegbedion has been re-appointed as the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and General studies.

The appointment was also conveyed in a memo dated August 26th, 2021 and signed by the Director, Human Resources, Mr. John J. Ubaji, on behalf of the Registrar.

It said Inegbedion’s appointment is with effect from 1st September 2021, saying further that “the appointment is in addition to your official schedule as a Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education.

The re-appointment is for another period of two (2) years.
