The Director, McCarthy Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Rotimi Ogidan, has implored students in the centre to adopt a healthy lifestyle through routine medical check-ups.

Ogidan said this while delivering an opening speech at a one-day community outreach organised by the Nursing Science students (BNS), McCarthy Study Centre, which was held on  Thursday, 13 January, 2022.

According to him, a healthy living is very imperative, adding that good environmental factor also contributes to healthy living.

The outreach also featured a health talk on healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and hypertension by one of the nursing students.

The event was a huge success as the community came out en masse for free checkups, which include checking of temperature, blood pressure, pulse, weight and blood sugar.

Medical consultation was also rendered as patients were treated clinically according to their complaints, signs and symptoms.

Referral to health centres was given to those who had cases that ought to be checked by a specialist, with a number of such referrals coming from those with high blood pressure and other critical health challenges.
