The newly-admitted students and their returning counterparts of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Enugu Study Centre, Enugu State, have been charged to acquaint and familiarise themselves with the modus operandi of NOUN as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution leveraging on technology.
Represented by the centre's Senior Assistant Registrar (SAR), Mr. Chukwuma Henry Okpara, the centre director, Prof. Charity Akuadi Okonkwo, made the charge on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 during the 2025_1 orientation programme held at the centre.
As an ODL institution, Okonkwo said, students who desire to achieve academic performance need to embrace and up-skill their technical know-how on the use of computer systems.
She underscored the importance of examination and course registrations as it ensured that students are officially recognised to participate in the examination and receive necessary information like the exam date, venue and instructions.
Speaking about the conduct of the examination, the professor of Measurement and Evaluation reaffirmed the university management’s commitment of maintaining a zero tolerance to any form of examination malpractice.
She advised them to live above the board as any offender would be meant to face the wrath of law.
While highlighting the need for promptness and punctuality, the director also counselled students to know and familiarise themselves with their various respective desk officers as they are well-trained to serve them better.
She emphasised that students should face their studies squarely as there is no substitute for hard-work and cautioned them on the dangers of engaging in frivolous tendencies that are capable of ruining their academic excellence.
