‎Students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Azare Community Study Centre, have embarked on a community-wide sensitisation campaign to tackle drug abuse amongst young people in Azare.

‎The initiative, organised under the DES 303 Community Development course, took place at Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare.

‎The management of the college described the choice of the venue as strategic toward reaching a large number of students and youths.

‎Provost of the college, Akiro Steven, in his remarks, stressed the need for drug education to begin early from primary school to tertiary institutions to effectively curb substance abuse.

‎ “Grassroots awareness is the foundation for building a drug-free society,” he said.

‎The event facilitator, Mr. Rufai Aliyu, called for proactive outreach, while Mr. Yakubu Abdullahi urged continuous education and inter-institutional cooperation in the fight against drug abuse.
