The Director, Enugu Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Charity Akuadi Okonkwo, has said the institution upholds high standards of examination as it continues to stick to its zero tolerance to any form of examination malpractice.

Represented by the centre's Principal Assistant Registrar (PAR), Mr. Matthew Egede, the director stated this during the 2025_1 students examination briefing at the centre, Enugu State.

She defined examination as the act of determining a learner's mastery level of a task, skill, aptitude, knowledge or attainment of learning outcome objective usually presented to the learner in form of a test.

Okonkwo added that an examination exercise measures a learner's capability in a given subject and reveals the weakness and strength therein and/or attainment of learning objectives guided by specified regulated and standard procedures.

The director advised students to give a serious attention to Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) as it prepares them for examination, noting that TMA ensures their confidence, reduces anxiety and improves their overall performance in assessments.

She charged students to read the examination rules stipulated at back cover of their booklets thoroughly and familiarise with the content and implications of the rules for effective compliance.

Okonkwo stated that candidates must arrive at the examination hall 30 minutes before the scheduled time for the paper - 7:30am for 8:00am, 10:30am for 11:00am and 1:30pm for the 2:00pm sessions, respectively.

While cautioning students on the dangers of wearing indecent dressing, the director said that security is everybody's business and emphasised the need for being security conscious.

She appealed to both staff and students to cooperate and comply with the security personnel directives towards ensuring safety of everyone on-site.

Students took turns to ask questions on grey areas, while the centre management provided satisfactory answers accordingly.
