An erudite scholar in the Department of Education Foundation, Faculty of Education, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Chinyere Nwajiuba, has commended the smooth running and completion of the 2024_1 e-exam exercise at both Isulo and Awka Study Centres in Anambra State.
Nwajiuba, whose first visit for the e-exam monitoring was at the Isulo centre, was received by the Acting Director, Dr. Georgina Ogbonna and the centre's staff, on Friday, June28, 2024, in Orumba South Local Government Area.
She said the environment was serene, friendly and conducive for academic learning and applauded the people of Isulo Community for their educational consciousness of erecting the massive and magnificent buildings at the centre.
Commenting about the attitudes of students, Nwajiuba said they conducted themselves calmly and very well, adding that no exam malpractices were recorded.
While commending the director for her proactive approach in managing the centre's situations, the visitor also praised the staff for their selfless efforts toward a successful exercise.
Nwajiuba decried the huge number of none functional computers at the centre, saying it is unacceptable that out of the 70 desktop computer systems, only 15 are functional, a reason why the e-exam was conducted in batches of 15 students.
She also frowned at the sight of majority of the exam chairs and tables broken, adding that the centre is in dire need of adequate computer systems as well as repairs of exam chairs and tables.
Some of the inadequacies at the centre as listed by Nwajiuba include insufficient security personnel, no internet connectivity, absence of power supply, among others.
Nwajiuba equally monitored the exercise at the Awka Study Centre, describing the exercise as satisfactory.
She said students behaved very well and are glued to their individual systems, even as no irregularities were noticed.
According to her, the Acting Director, Dr. Bibian Ugoala, was passionate, active and equal to the task of providing all the needed during the course of the exercise.
She thanked the centre's staff for a high degree of cooperation and teamwork existing among them, adding that the sitting arrangements were well-spaced and well-organised.
Nwajiuba acknowledged some complaints of the centre, which include the lack of internet connectivity, inadequate security personnel, among others.
