
The Vice-Chancellor, National Open Universityof Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Olufemi Peters, has unveiled the Technical Bidding Box for the Tertiary Education Trust Fund’s (TETFund) intervention for Library development.
The intervention covers the proposed procurement of library assorted textbooks and journals, as well as the proposed procurement of library equipment and furniture.
Peters, represented at the event held at the Vincent Ado Tenebe Senate Building at the headquarters in Abuja by the University Liberian , Prof. Angela Opala, said each bid will be assessed on standard guidelines and the Procurement Act.
On her part, the Dircetor of Procurement, Mrs. Dinah Abbah, disclosed that the purpose of the bidding opening exercise was to ensure that there is transparency, fairness and competitiveness in NOUN’s procurement process as referred in the Procurement Act of 2007.
”Our major objective here is to identify and confirm that bidders and companies, individuals who have submitted their bids are reviewed and verified to meet the requirement as outlined in our adverts.
”We will conduct the bid opening in a fair and transparent manner. The bid box will be examined to ensure that it is locked and unlocked before it will be opened.
”After the technical exercise, companies that meet our requirements will be invited for financial and our evaluation team will assessed each of them and those who qualify will be invited for the financial bid opening.
“The successful bidders will be recommended and presented to the university tender board for annual award,” she explained.
Dinah appreciated bidders for their participation and interest in the project and she also congratulated the successful bidders, while charging them to provide the library with quality items.
The Director of SERVICOM, Mrs. Foluke Adeniran and the representative of ACTU gave their remarks, saying that the exercise was conducted with high standards of transparency and integrity, just as it was also well organised and coordinated.
