The new Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Uduma Orji Uduma, has expressed delight over his opportunity to work with the Chancellor of the University, His Royal Majesty Omo N' Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin Kingdom, Edo State, towards the realisation of the NOUN dream. 

Uduma made the assertion during a familiarisation visit to the monarch in his palace on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, 

The Vice-Chancellor, who was formally presented to Oba Ewuare II by the outgone Vice--Chancellor,  Prof. Olufemi Peters, eulogised the Chancellor for selflessly leading the management of the University to achieve the greatness it has attained today, adding that he will build on the achievements of his predecessor, Prof. Peters.

He prayed the monarch to grace the forthcoming Convocation Ceremony slated for April 17 and 18, 2026, with his presence, having been unavoidably absent during the previous one. 

Erwuare II, in his response, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his kind remarks, adding that he was confident that he would perform excellently in his responsibility as the Vice-Chancellor of a great University such as  NOUN. 

The Royal Father commended the outgone Vice-Chancellor for his achievement during his tenure, prayed for God's guidance in his future endeavours and counseled Uduma to brace up for the challenge of leadership of such a great institution as NOUN, foisted on him by his appointment.

He expressed regret for his inability to have attended the last Convocation Ceremony of the University, explaining that his trip abroad during the period was extremely important and unavoidable. 

The Chancellor promised to do everything within his power to be available at the forthcoming Convocation Ceremony. 

Other principal officers of the University  at the event included the Registrar, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi, the DVC (Admin),  Prof. Shehu Usman Adamu, the DVC (TIR), Prof. Christine Ofulue and the University Librarian, Prof. Angela Okpalla, among a host of other top officers of the University.
