The Director, Abeokuta Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof.Oyekunle Adegbyega, has disclosed that the centre will continue to exemplify the institution’s core values of flexibility, accessibility, and inclusivity towards its students.
Adegbyega stated this during the ongoing examination exercise at his centre.
The director who was spotted babysitting, like a father for his newborn to support his wife, was helping a nursing student to write her examination peacefully and in a conducive atmosphere.
He expressed the centre’s commitment towards upholding NOUN’s mission, emphasising that the centre remains focused on providing functional, cost-effective, and lifelong learning opportunities that are accessible to all, regardless of physical limitations or personal circumstances.
"NOUN will continue to demostrate that with the right support, education can indeed be for everyone," he said.
Expressing appreciation, the husband, Mr. Oke, commended NOUN for the flexible structure that allows his wife to balance her academic pursuit with work and family life.
“This opportunity has made it possible for my wife to chase her dreams without compromising her responsibilities at home,” he said.
Additionally, a physically-challenged 300-level Computer Science student living with Muscular Dystrophy, also shared her thoughts, noting that staff members always display warm attitudes, showing their supports towards her especially in the time of exams regardless of her challenge.
In this regard, she described her academic journey as impactful and encouraging.
