The Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL), has received a delegate, Arc. Oluwaseyi Akerele, from the World Bank on a verification visit to the centre to ascertain the completion and functionality of its new office building.
The building, which was recently completed, passed through certain processes that are in compliance with the standards and policies of the World Bank.
While addressing the delegate, accompanied by the ACETEL director, Prof. Grace Jokthan, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters, urged the visitor to give ACETEL a good recommendation for the completion of the building and putting it into maximum use according to the world’s apex bank’s standards.
Peters, represented by the DVC, TIR, Prof. Godwin Akper, assured that the building has met all standards before its completion and after its completion and that no stone has been left un-turned.
On her part, Jokthan, while briefing the VC and other members of the ACETEL Board said the delegate had already had “an on site inspection of the ACETEL Milestone Three, which is the building, and he is not new to us. He was here in 2022 when we also needed to do a verification. So this is his second time coming here and we are happy to have him.”
Akerele, a representative of the Association of African Universities (AAU), in his remarks, said “we've gone round for the inspection and I think the centre has done well and our reports is basically to acknowledge what we have seen.”
He carried out inspection on the new building and the facilities installed in it to ascertain its functionality.
The inspector also had a meeting with the ACETEL Procurement Officer, Mr. Kazeem Onubaiye to verify the centre’s compliance with milestone targets which are: the Self Certification on Institutions Procurement Rules, Published Advertisements for Tender, Opening of Bidding, Tender Opening and Evaluation Document and Award of Contract Execution as specified.
Mr. Onubaiye provided documents for the milestones as requested to prove that ACETEL has met all the standards.
