The Fagge Community Study Centre (FCSC) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Kano, has held its maiden orientation programme for the newly matriculated students of the centre.
NOUN News recalls that Fagge Community Study Centre was earlier this year commissioned by the immediate-past Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu in Kano, alongside 15 other new centres.
The centre was built by a member representing Fagge Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. Aminu Sulaiman Goro, who is the Chairman, House Committee on tertiary institution.
The orientation programme for the newly matriculated students of the university, marked the first edition of the exercise and first ever major event to be carried out since the centre was established.
Speaking during the orientation programme, the Ag centre director, Malam Amir Salisu Hamza, hinted out that the orientation exercise was organized to familiarise the newly admitted students on the operational processes of the university, the centre and its staffers.
He urged the newly admitted students to be good ambassadors as their behaviour and characters portray the university to the outside public.
Moreover, he called on them to take their education very serious and added that only those who took their studies very serious scale through.
Additionally, he warned the newly matriculated students on the need to shelve all forms of misconduct ranging from examination irregularities to other forms of conduct contrary to rules and regulations of the university.
"The university has never and would not entertain any form of gross misconduct," he warned.
“NOUN has provided a fair playing ground for your academic pursuit, therefore, you should effectively and efficiently use this bountiful opportunity given to you so as to harness what you are here for,” said Hamza.
He wished them success as they begin an imperative journey toward achieving success.
The orientation event comprised of series of presentations by different speakers who substantially elucidated on registration and documentation procedures, mode of instructional delivery, ethics, portal management, examination, change of programme, library services, facilitations, among others
One of the students, Angela Bassey, a level 100 student of the department of Computer Science, said they have received a lot of knowledge, inspirations and motivations at the training, saying the event will go a long way in helping students to achieve their academic goals.
